In a shocking incident unfolded today as two persons breached security and leaped into the Lok Sabha House from the gallery while the session was in full swing. The intruders, identified as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan removed their shoes, pulled out gas canisters, and sprayed a yellow gas, causing a moment of confusion within the house, according to the reports. The shocking incident occurred on the anniversary of the Parliament attack that shook India 22 years ago.
Television footage captured the chilling scene, showing the intruders jumping from desk to desk and chanting slogans “tana shahi nahi chalegi” (“dictatorship won’t be accepted”).
Over 100 lawmakers, including high-ranking officials like Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi, witnessed the shocking event that has raised serious concerns about Parliament’s security.
As pandemonium broke out, MPs including Hanuman Beniwal, Malook Nagar, and Gurdip Singh Aujla bravely overpowered and subdued the intruders. Reports revealed that the individuals gained access to the gallery using visitor passes facilitated by Prathap Simha, a two-term Lok Sabha member from Mysuru and member of the ruling BJP.
Meanwhile, outside Parliament, a separate protest erupted as two individuals, identified as 42-year-old Neelam and 25-year-old Amol Shinde, were detained by local police near Transport Bhavan for protesting with yellow smoke canisters.
The nature of the gas sprayed by Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan remains under investigation, and authorities are working to assess the motive behind these coordinated actions.
On request of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Ministry of Home Affairs have ordered a probe into the breach case. “An Enquiry Committee has been set up under Shri Anish Dayal Singh, DG, CRPF, with members from other security agencies and experts for the same,” said MHA. The entry of visitors inside the Parliament House complex has been suspended.

According to reports, a total of six people were involved in the conspiracy and five were caught, while a search is underway for the remaining one. Out of the six persons, five people who were from outside Delhi stayed at a location in Gurugram before the incident.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the security of Parliament and the need for stricter measures to prevent such breaches in the future.
After the Lok Sabha resumed its session, Speaker Om Birla addressed the House and assured members that there was no need to worry about the yellow gas sprayed by one of the intruders. “A thorough investigation of the incident that took place during zero hour is being done. Essential instructions have also been given to Delhi Police. In the primary investigation, it has been found that it was just a smoke and there is no need to worry about the smoke,” the Speaker said.
Later leaders of various parties met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, expressing their alarm and demanding a thorough review of security protocols. Birla, acknowledging the concerns, assured members that a review would be conducted. The Secretary-General of Lok Sabha has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs seeking a comprehensive security assessment. Additionally, no further passes will be issued for the public gallery until further notice.
