Mumbai, January 27
Responding to MV Marlin Luanda’s request, a dedicated firefighting team from INS Visakhapatnam, comprised of 10 skilled Indian Naval personnel equipped with specialized firefighting equipment, boarded the vessel in the early hours of January 27. After an intense six-hour operation in collaboration with MV Marlin Luanda’s crew, the firefighting team effectively brought the blaze under control in Gulf of Aden and is closely monitoring for any potential resurgence, the Indian Navy spokesman said.
The INS Visakhapatnam had responded to a distress call from MV MarlinLuanda and proceeded to provide assistance.

The spokesman further said the INS Visakhapatnam’s swift response to the distress call played a pivotal role, with additional support from US and French warships. The Indian Navy remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring the safety of merchant shipping and the well-being of seafarers.
The MV currently has 22 Indian and 01 Bangladeshi crew members on board. The Indian Navy remains resolute and dedicated to safeguarding merchant vessels, prioritizing the safety of lives at sea.
