Chandigarh, January 5
Local Government Minister Balkar Singh led a comprehensive review meeting at Chandigarh’s Municipal Bhawan, engaging head office and field officials alongside MLAs to discuss ongoing development works. He urged prompt utilization of unspent funds in line with government guidelines, prioritizing public welfare.
Highlighting the Punjab government’s commitment under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, Minister Balkar Singh stressed the provision of fundamental amenities and an eco-friendly environment. The government is actively driving developmental efforts across Punjab toward this end.
Key discussions during the meeting focused on projects aligned with the Swachh Bharat Mission and Amrut Mission, underscoring the importance of efficiently completing existing initiatives. The Minister addressed concerns regarding the identification of suitable locations for sewage and water treatment plants, urging swift resolution of any delays through collaboration with MLAs and district administration.
Emphasizing the availability of ample funds for development endeavors, the Minister advocated for equipping urban local units with machinery and equipment, aimed at ensuring a clean environment for residents.
Instructions were issued for officials to furnish detailed progress reports on development initiatives within their respective constituencies to MLAs. Timely execution of development schemes and prudent fund utilization were highlighted as crucial.
Underlining the government’s commitment to an honest and corruption-free administration, the Minister sternly warned against any involvement in corrupt practices, vowing consequences for those implicated.
The meeting witnessed the participation of MLAs Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy, Amit Rattan, Naresh Kataria, Balkar Sidhu, Ranbir Singh Bhullar, Master Jagsir Singh, along with the Secretary of the Local Government Department Ajoy Sharma, PMIDC CEO Deepti Uppal, and other officials.
