Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), passed by Parliament in December 2019, would be notified and implemented before the impending Lok Sabha polls. “CAA is a national legislation, and it will certainly be notified. It will be notified before the elections and implemented by the time of the polls, leaving no room for confusion,” Shah assured.
He addressed the possibility of forming an alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, stating that no decision had been made yet and talks were underway with the SAD, highlighting the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) openness to new alliances in politics. “The BJP does not believe in “family planning” in politics and always welcomes new allies,” he said speaking at the ET Now-Global Business summit here in the national capital.
