Govt seeks early discharge of Indians working for Russian Army

NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 23

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, announced on Friday that India is coordinating with Moscow to expedite the release of Indian nationals serving as support staff to the Russian Army. This statement follows reports indicating the presence of Indians in the conflict zone in Ukraine.

Jaiswal emphasized the government’s efforts to ensure the safety of its citizens, urging them to avoid involvement in the conflict zone. He reiterated that the Indian Embassy has been actively engaging with Russian authorities to facilitate the swift discharge of Indian support staff.

“We urge all Indian nationals to exercise caution and refrain from entering areas of conflict,” Jaiswal said. in an official communication.
