Ten people were injured in a blast at the popular Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru on Friday. Police suspect the cause may have been an improvised explosive device (IED) left in a bag at the cafe. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) are involved in the investigation. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, while addressing the media, said that investigating agencies are diligently probing the explosion at Cafe in Whitefield to ascertain its exact cause and nature. He indicated that the explosion may have been triggered by an “improvised explosive” device and assured strict action against those responsible. Emphasizing the need to refrain from politicizing the incident, he urged everyone to cooperate with the investigation process.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar described the explosion as a low-intensity blast. He explained that a young individual had placed a small bag at the scene, which detonated approximately an hour later, resulting in injuries to about 10 people. Shivakumar informed that the government has formed 7 to 8 investigative teams to thoroughly examine the incident from all possible angles. Reassuring the citizens, he urged every Bangalorean not to be alarmed, assuring that the authorities have access to tracking systems and CCTV footage, which will aid in the swift apprehension of the perpetrators.
