Punjab’s Cabinet Minister Meet Hayer underscored the collective responsibility for environmental conservation, emphasizing the imperative of public participation for its success. Speaking at the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Hayer advocated for increased tree plantation on village panchayat lands and individual residences to preserve the environment and expand forested areas. Hayer lauded the continuous efforts of the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, in environmental protection. He highlighted initiatives such as the installation of solar panels in government educational institutions, the implementation of a comprehensive ban on single-use plastics, and measures to mitigate industrial pollution. Additionally, significant projects including stubble management programs have been prioritized, resulting in a notable 30 percent reduction in stubble burning cases.
Highlighting the role of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Hayer mentioned the Speaker’s commendation of farmers abstaining from stubble burning, serving as inspiration for others. He urged local residents to support the burgeoning stubble management industries in the state.
