THE NEWS FREEDOM

NEW DELHI, MARCH 8

Several Indian nationals have been “duped” into working with the Russian Army, prompting India to vigorously pursue their early discharge with Moscow, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated on Friday. While addressing a weekly conference, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that robust measures have been taken against agents and unscrupulous individuals who deceived Indians with false promises and pretexts to recruit them.

India remains steadfast in ensuring the prompt release of its nationals serving as support staff with the Russian Army, Jaiswal affirmed during his weekly media briefing.

The tragic death of Mohammed Asfan, an Indian national from Hyderabad, amid Russia’s conflict in Ukraine has stirred concerns. In response, the CBI has registered a case of human trafficking against multiple agents involved in recruiting individuals for support roles within the Russian Army.

In light of these events, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reiterated its appeal to Indian citizens, urging them to exercise caution and refrain from succumbing to offers from agents promising support positions with the Russian Army. Such engagements, the MEA emphasized, pose significant risks to personal safety and well-being.
