The State Bank of India (SBI) submitted details of electoral bonds to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday, complying with a Supreme Court orders. The apex court on Monday rejected SBI’s plea for a deadline extension until June 30 and directed the bank to furnish the information regarding electoral bond purchases and redemptions by the end of business hours today, March 12. A five-judge Constitution Bench led by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud dismissed SBI’s application and instructed the ECI to compile and publish the details on its website by March 15. Electoral bonds are a method for anonymous donations to political parties.
