Prime Minister Narendra Modi has graciously accepted an invitation from his Bhutanese counterpart, Tshering Tobgay, to embark on a visit to Bhutan next week. The Ministry of External Affairs conveyed this development on Friday, stating, “On behalf of the King of Bhutan, PM Tshering Tobgay extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi to visit Bhutan next week. Prime Minister accepted the invitation.”
The meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay took place in New Delhi yesterday. Tobgay’s visit to India marks his first official overseas trip since assuming office in February this year. During their discussions, both leaders assessed the progress in various dimensions of bilateral partnership, encompassing infrastructure development, connectivity, energy, hydropower cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and development cooperation. “They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the special and unique India-Bhutan friendship,” emphasized the Ministry of External Affairs.
