The Tribune, a prominent newspaper in North India with a legacy dating back to 1881, witnessed a decisive leadership renewal today. Anil Gupta secured a sixth term as president of the Tribune Employees’ Union, while Ruchika M. Khanna retained her position as general secretary for a third consecutive term in the biennial union elections.
Founded by the visionary Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, The Tribune has remained steadfast in its commitment to ethical and responsible journalism. The elections, held unopposed, reaffirmed the employees’ trust in the existing leadership. They also saw the appointment of 12 office-bearers and 25 members to the executive committee, solidifying a united front for the next two years.
“This unanimous vote signifies the trust and confidence that our members have placed in our leadership,” said Gupta . He outlined plans for a “cohesive and collaborative approach” towards addressing employee concerns and securing further union rights.
The new team includes Karam Vir as senior vice president and Rajesh Malik and Dr. Joginder Singh as vice presidents. The Returning Officer, Sandeep Sharma, officially declared the results, assisted by Tarun Sharma and Joginder Bhatia.
Among the notable office-bearers are Sushil Kumar as secretary, Ajay Kumar Verma as office secretary, Ramesh Chand Sharma and Pritam Singh as joint secretaries, Rajesh Kumar Sharma and Lovepreet Singh as propaganda/organizing secretaries, and Ritu as finance secretary.
The executive committee’s roster of elected members includes Vijay Mohan, Rohit Awasthi, Amar Singh Walia, Sunil Kumar, Uttamvir Singh Daon, Ashwani Kumar, Hardeep Guru, Pawan Singh Bartwal, Sonia Sharma, Dharminder, Anjiv Jaswal, Sanjeev Kumar, Kalyan Singh Bhainsora, Dapinder Singh, Avnish Kumar, Lalit Kumar, Ashwani Kumar Dubey, Raj Kumar Sharma, Sukhwinder Singh Mann, Raju, Gopal Chand, Surjit Singh, Shivalik Verma, Ranbhadur Tiwari, and Somvir Singh.
