Addressing the gathering in Guwahati, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today emphasized that the development projects unveiled would enhance Assam’s connectivity to Northeastern states and Southeast Asian countries, stimulate tourism employment, and create opportunities for sports talents. The expansion of the medical education and healthcare sector in the state is also anticipated. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the warm reception and blessings of Maa Kamakhya.

After unveiling development projects worth Rs 11,000 crores in Guwahati, PM Modi acknowledged the significance of Indian pilgrimage sites and temples, emphasizing their role in preserving civilization over thousands of years. He lamented past trends of cultural shame for political gain and praised recent policies focusing on both ‘Vikas’ (development) and ‘Virasat’ (heritage). The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of connecting historical and spiritual places in Assam with modern facilities to accelerate development.

PM Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the ‘Ease of Living’ mantra, citing initiatives such as building 4 crore pucca houses for the poor, supplying water and electricity connections, and constructing toilets under Ujjwala Yojna and Swachh Bharat.

During his address, PM Modi emphasized the fulfillment of guarantees, stating that “Modi’s guarantee means the guarantee of fulfillment,” particularly for basic facilities targeting the welfare of the poor, women, youth, and farmers. He highlighted the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and ‘Modi’s guarantee vehicle,’ aimed at extending government scheme benefits to those underserved. Notably, around 20 crore people nationwide, including a significant population in Assam, have directly participated in the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra.

Discussing the Centre’s vision, PM Modi reiterated the commitment to simplifying citizens’ lives, aligning with this year’s budget announcements. The government has pledged to allocate Rs 11 lakh crore to infrastructure, with an emphasis on generating employment and fostering development. He underscored the substantial increase compared to the total infrastructure budget for Assam in the decade preceding 2014, which stood at Rs 12 lakh crore.

PM Modi reiterated the government’s focus on providing electricity to every home over the past decade. He highlighted this year’s budget decision to reduce electricity bills to zero through the Rooftop Solar Scheme, assisting one crore families in installing solar rooftops. This initiative aims to enable families to generate electricity at home, resulting in zero electricity bills.
