CHANDIGARH, MARCH 13

The new government under Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini successfully passed the floor test in the state assembly today, securing its confidence through a voice vote. Despite the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) issuing a whip instructing its 10 legislators to abstain from the voting process, five of its MLAs exited the House during the crucial session. In contrast, the JJP, with 10 MLAs, faces a diminished presence as the main opposition Congress holds 30 seats, with the Indian National Lok Dal contributing a single MLA to the assembly.
