The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, today approved the pioneering ‘PRITHvi VIgyan (PRITHVI)’ scheme, a substantial leap forward in advancing earth system sciences. The initiative encompasses vital domains like climate research, ocean services, polar science, seismology, and more.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), highlighted the scheme’s objective not only to enhance understanding of the Earth System but also to translate this knowledge into practical applications for societal, environmental, and economic benefits. He emphasized the scheme’s role in bolstering India’s capabilities to forecast and manage natural disasters, ensuring the protection of lives and property.
The Union Cabinet was also apprised of signing of Memorandum of Understanding between India and United States for International Development signed on June 14 for supporting Indian Railways to achieve Mission Net Zero Carbon Emission by 2030. The MoU provides a platform for Indian Railways to interact and share the latest developments and knowledge in the railway sector. The MoU facilitates utility modernization, advanced energy solutions and systems, regional energy and market integration, private sector participation and engagement, training, seminars, workshops focusing on specific technology areas like Renewable Energy, energy efficiency and other interactions for knowledge sharing.
