The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students entering class 10 and 12 in 2024-25 will be the pioneers of a new era – an era of twice-a-year board exams! This bold move, announced by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in October 2023, aims to reduce stress on students and offer them more flexibility.
Gone are the days of one-shot wonders. According to a reports, from 2025 onwards, Class 10 and 12 students will have two chances to prove their mettle. The first set of exams kicks off in November-December 2024, followed by the second round in February-March 2025. The best score from both sets of exams will determine the final result and merit list. But, here’s the twist – the second set is entirely optional! If a student aced the first round, they can choose to bask in their glory and skip the second round.
This revolutionary shift promises a sigh of relief for students who often crumble under the pressure of a single, high-stakes exam. Imagine no more sleepless nights, frantic cramming sessions, and gut-wrenching anxieties about one “defining” test. With two opportunities, students can relax, strategize, and approach each attempt with more composure.
However, this reform is not without its wrinkles. Doubling the exams implies double the workload for teachers and schools. Logistically, conducting two sets of exams across millions of students might turn into a mammoth task. Furthermore, the method of calculating the “best” score still requires careful deliberation.
