SANGRUR, MARCH 7
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday handed over job letters to 2487 young individuals, marking the largest such initiative to date and securing government employment for approximately 43,000 youth over the past two years. Speaking at the ceremony, Mann disclosed that 1750 of the recipients were enlisted in the Home Department, 205 in Social Security Women and Child Development, 39 in Revenue, 60 in the Excise Department, 421 in the Local Government Department, four in Cooperation, and eight in the Technical Education Department. He emphasized that a government job signifies a qualitative transformation in the lifestyle of entire families.
Mann highlighted that his government, which took office on March 16, 2022, prioritizes merit-based job allocation, diverging from past practices tainted by corruption and nepotism. He attributed this shift to dispelling negativity among the youth, leading to a decrease in aspirations to migrate abroad and initiating reverse migration in Punjab. Reflecting on the substantial employment opportunities created within two years, Mann questioned why such endeavors weren’t undertaken over the past 75 years for the youth’s welfare. He asserted his commitment to reforming the system and fostering youth participation in the state’s development.
The Chief Minister assured prompt filling of vacant positions across departments, underscoring the adoption of a foolproof recruitment mechanism, which has withstood legal scrutiny without a single appointment challenge among the 43,000 recruits. Mann urged the new employees to utilize their roles for public welfare and justice delivery rather than engaging in harassment. He reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to state welfare, promising relentless efforts toward this noble objective.
Mann emphasized the government’s provision of requisite study materials in libraries throughout the state to facilitate youth in competitive exams, aiming to empower them with knowledge and competence for national service. He underscored the imperative for youth to occupy esteemed positions and serve the nation diligently.
