In a major tragedy, at least 39 people were killed and 17 injured when a bus carrying passengers skidded off the road and rolled down into a 300-foot gorge in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. “The bus was on the way to Jammu and fell down into a nearly 300-foot-deep gorge. Immediately all of us got in touch with the administration,” Union Minister Jitendra Singh said.

Jammu and Kashmir LG, Manoj Sinha, announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the unfortunate bus accident in Doda. Besides it, Rs 1 lakh would be given to the injured. He assured that the administration will provide every possible assistance to affected families. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for kin of each deceased.  “The bus accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir is distressing. My condolences to the families who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. Rs. 50,000 would be given to the injured: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his post on social media platform X formerly known as Twitter.

In his post on X, Home Minister Amit Shah said that Deeply anguished to learn about the loss of precious lives due to a tragic bus accident at Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. The local administration is conducting the rescue operation in the gorge where the bus had the accident. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.

“Saddened to hear of the tragic bus accident in Doda, Jammu & Kashmir. My prayers are with the people who are struck, and my sincere condolences to the families of the departed soul. May the injured receive a speedy recovery,” said Union Minister, Anurag Thakur in his post on social media platform X.

Vice President, Jagdeep Dhankar, said that saddened by the loss of precious lives in a bus accident in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the early recovery of the injured.
