Following a complaint, the Election Commission of India (ECI) took decisive action on Tuesday, ordering the transfer of Jalandhar’s Deputy Commissioner, Vishesh Sarangal. The directive specified that Sarangal must be relocated from his current posting to a different location outside his home district, ensuring he is not stationed within the same parliamentary constituency. Additionally, the ECI mandated the appointment of a panel consisting of three officers for the selection of Jalandhar’s new Deputy Commissioner.
Likewise, the Assistant Director General of Police (ADGP) for Ropar Range, Jaskaran Singh, and the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Border Range, Narinder Bhargav, received transfer orders. Both officials have been directed to move out of their districts and avoid postings within the same parliamentary constituency. Notably, Singh and Bhargav are slated for retirement in April and June, respectively. The ECI has called for panels of three names for both positions, from which the new appointments will be made.
