NEW DELHI, MARCH 3
Farmer leaders on Sunday appealed to farmers nationwide to travel to Delhi without tractors, opting instead for buses and trains, except for farmers from Punjab and Haryana.
Additionally, farmers leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal declared a four-hour ‘rail roko’ demonstration across the country on March 10 to bolster their demands.
They emphasized that the ongoing farmers’ agitation will be intensified at the existing protest points at Punjab and Haryana borders and will continue until their demands are met. The announcement was made in Bathinda district’s Balloh village, the native village of a farmer who recently died during clashes with the Haryana security personnel in Khanauri.
In addition, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur paid a visit to the residence of the late young farmer Shubhkaran Singh, who lost his life at the Khanauri border during the farmers’ agitation. Offering her condolences to the martyr’s family, the Cabinet Minister affirmed the state government’s unwavering support during this period of mourning. She reiterated the government’s solidarity with Punjab’s farmers, who are encountering opposition from anti-Punjab factions hindering their peaceful protests for rightful demands in the national capital. Emphasizing the significant contributions of Punjabis to the nation’s independence and food security, as well as their role in safeguarding the country’s borders, she condemned the ongoing targeting of Punjabis despite their enduring contributions.
