Jaipur, January 25
French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Jaipur, India on Thursday to participate as the chief guest in the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi. Macron was received with a warm welcome at the Jaipur airport by Governor Kalraj Mishra, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on a visit to Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, was also scheduled to arrive in Jaipur later that day. The leaders had a busy itinerary planned for their time in Jaipur. They were scheduled to visit the iconic Amber Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stunning architecture and rich history. Next, they would head to Jantar Mantar, a fascinating astronomical observatory showcasing the advanced scientific knowledge of India’s past. Finally, they would experience the beauty of Hawa Mahal, the “Palace of Winds,” with its intricate pink sandstone facade.
To culminate their day in Jaipur, Macron and Modi were scheduled to participate in a roadshow, starting from Jantar Mantar and concluding at Hawa Mahal. This public procession would provide an opportunity for the people of Jaipur to welcome the distinguished guests and celebrate the close bond between India and France.
In the evening, the leaders would hold a meeting at the opulent Hotel Rambagh Palace. This meeting would likely focus on discussions regarding bilateral relations, regional security, and global issues of mutual concern.
Macron’s visit to Jaipur served as a prelude to the Republic Day celebrations and highlighted the strong partnership between India and France. The warm welcome, cultural exchange, and high-level discussions all contributed to solidifying the ties between the two nations.
