LUDHIANA, MARCH 3
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday emphasized the transformative impact of the state government’s initiatives in the education sector, stating that they are empowering students to reach new heights in life. He highlighted Punjab’s significant strides in education, drawing parallels with Delhi’s reforms, and expressed optimism about the state’s future prospects. Talking to the media at the inauguration of 13 new Schools of Eminence along with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Mann underscored the government’s commitment to providing quality education, particularly to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. He envisioned these schools as vehicles for societal change, predicting that they would produce accomplished individuals who would bring pride to Punjab. Mann noted a noteworthy shift in the education landscape, with students increasingly opting for government schools over private institutions, signaling a broader transformation in the sector’s dynamics.
The Chief Minister envisioned the newly inaugurated schools as just the beginning of a broader initiative aimed at improving the welfare of underprivileged students. He described these schools as modern-day temples, offering facilities surpassing those of many private institutions, including playgrounds, sports facilities, and state-of-the-art laboratories.
Mann credited the model’s origins to Delhi, highlighting its effectiveness in supporting students from weaker socio-economic backgrounds. He expressed gratitude to parents who had chosen to enroll their children in these government schools, emphasizing the government’s focus on practical governance over divisive politics. Mann also noted recent efforts to enhance educational opportunities, including specialized training in exams like NEET and JEE.
He highlighted the government’s broader agenda of people-centric policies, citing the recent opening of 165 new Aam Aadmi Clinics as part of ongoing efforts to improve public welfare. Mann reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continued development initiatives, including the revitalization of industrial hubs like Ludhiana.
Crediting Arvind Kejriwal for centering the interests of common people in politics, Mann praised the shift towards value-based governance over divisive rhetoric. He emphasized the need for political parties to prioritize the welfare of citizens over mere election promises, heralding a new era of inclusive politics.
