The Punjab government remains dedicated to safeguarding the interests of the scheduled castes in the state. The state-level scrutiny committee constituted at the government level, has rejected the fake backward class certificate of Jasvir Singh and the fake scheduled caste certificate of Panch Mithu Ram.
Giving details, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said the complainant Balvir Singh alleged that Jasvir Singh had secured a position as an ETT teacher in the education department through the use of the fake backward class certificate.
Similarly, a complaint was filed against Panch Mithu Ram by Pala Singh, Jaswinder Singh, and Harneet Singh. The complainants accused Mithu Ram of fabricating a Scheduled Caste certificate despite belonging to the Rajput caste, she said.
The Minister further said after a detailed investigation, it surfaced that Jasvir Singh, originally from Haryana, obtained residency through marriage and subsequently acquired a fraudulent backward class certificate. As per the findings, he is ineligible to get benefits from a backward class certificate in Punjab, leading to the decision to revoke his caste certificate.
She said that It was also established that Mithu Ram belongs to the Rajput caste after checking his school records and statements of nambardars, and he was found to have falsely obtained a Scheduled Caste certificate. In the absence of Mithu Ram during the investigation, it was decided to nullify his Scheduled Caste certificate.
The Deputy Commissioner of Patiala has been directed to cancel and confiscate Jasvir Singh’s backward classes certificate and Mithu Ram’s scheduled caste certificate. The DPI (Elementary Education) was also directed to retract the benefits accorded to Jasvir Singh based on the fraudulent backward class certificate, the Minister said.
