Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar criticized the tactics employed by farmers on Thursday, likening their movement to an army advancing towards Delhi. He noted their use of tractor-trolleys, earth-movers, and provisions for an extended stay, equating their actions to those of a military campaign.
“We take issue with their approach,” Khattar remarked regarding the farmers’ plan to march to Delhi. “We don’t oppose their journey to Delhi. Tractors, however, aren’t meant for transportation; they’re agricultural equipment.” Farmers from Punjab have gathered at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points, aiming to travel to Delhi to pressure the Centre into addressing their demands.
Khattar suggesting external support and criticizing the Punjab government’s inaction. “It’s not appropriate to comment, but it’s evident the farmers are getting support from somewhere,” Khattar told reporters, hinting at external forces backing the protests. He further targeted the neighboring state, saying, “The Punjab government could have stopped them, but they didn’t. This shows there must be some understanding”.
