New Delhi, December 19
In an unprecedented move, 49 more Opposition MPs were suspended from Parliament for the remainder of the Winter Session on Tuesday. Parliament has witnessed unprecedented events in the ongoing Winter Session, marked by escalating tensions and a record number of suspensions. A total of 141 MPs have been barred from attending proceedings, the highest ever in a single session, following their persistent protests over the December 13 Lok Sabha security breach.
A record number of 78 MPs were suspended including 33 from the Lok Sabha and 45 from the Rajya Sabha on December 18.
Meanwhile, reacting to TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee mimicking him outside the Parliament while staging a protest and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi recording it, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar termed the act “ridiculous and unacceptable”.
If the country was wondering why Opposition MPs were suspended, here is the reason…
TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee mocked the Honourable Vice President, while Rahul Gandhi lustily cheered him on. One can imagine how reckless and violative they have been of the House! pic.twitter.com/5o6VTTyF9C
