External Affairs Ministry summoned the German Deputy Chief of Mission in New Delhi on Friday to express strong protest regarding comments made by the German Foreign Ministry spokesperson concerning India’s internal affairs. “We view such statements as interference in our judicial processes and as undermining the independence of our judiciary,” stated the MEA.
George Enzweiler, the Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy, was summoned by the MEA today to formally express India’s protest. Enzweiler was observed departing from the MEA office located in South Block, earlier this morning.
Highlighting India’s status as a vibrant democracy with a robust rule of law, the ministry emphasized that, as in all legal cases within the country and across democratic nations, due legal process would be followed in this instance. “Biased assumptions concerning this matter are entirely unwarranted,” the MEA spokesperson added.
