Minister of External Affairs, Dr S. Jaishankar, engaged in discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday, delving into various global issues. The talks encompassed topics ranging from the Indo-Pacific and the Ukraine conflict to the Gaza situation, Afghanistan, and Central Asia. Additionally, discussions touched upon forums like BRICS, SCO, G20, and the UN.
Sharing insights on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Jaishankar highlighted the strategic partnership between India and Russia. He emphasized the breadth of discussions covering economic cooperation, energy trade, connectivity endeavors, military-technical collaboration, and cultural exchanges. The ministers signed a Protocol on Consultations slated for the 2024-2028 period.
Jaishankar characterized the meeting with Lavrov as comprehensive and beneficial, underlining India-Russia relations as a reflection of geopolitical realities, strategic alignment, and mutual advantages.
