Former Congress leader Milind Deora bid farewell to his party today and embarked on a new political journey by joining Shiv Sena in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Mumbai.
Deora, in his address after joining Shiv Sena, emphasized the need for strong governments at both the Center and States in India. He expressed pride in India’s progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, highlighting the absence of terror attacks in Mumbai in the past decade.
He explained his decision to leave Congress, stating that the party he was loyal to for over 55 years had strayed far from its principles. He compared the current Congress to its iterations in 1968 and 2004, finding it lacking in constructive engagement and valuing meritocracy.
Deora acknowledged the significant choices made by both him and Shinde, hinting at internal dynamics within Congress that may have influenced their decisions. He further criticized Congress’s current approach, accusing them of negativity and solely focusing on opposing PM Modi’s actions and policies.

In contrast, Deora outlined his own political philosophy centered on “GAIN” – Growth, Aspiration, Inclusivity, and Nationalism. He positioned himself against “PAIN” politics, characterized by Personal Attacks, Injustice, and Negativity.
Deora’s decision to join Shiv Sena marks a significant development in Indian politics, potentially impacting the political landscape of Maharashtra and beyond. His reasons for leaving Congress and his vision for the future under Shiv Sena leadership will be closely watched in the coming days and weeks.
