Chandigarh, January 18
In a remarkable achievement at the 27th National Youth Festival organized by the Government of India at Nashik in Maharashtra, Punjab clinched the second position in the folk song competition and the third position in the folk dance competition. Youth Services Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer extended congratulations to the triumphant youth.
The festival, hosted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, witnessed participation from youth representing 28 states and 8 Union Territories of India. Led by Assistant Director Kulwinder Singh and Raghbir Singh Mann from the Youth Services Department of Punjab, a contingent of 100 youth showcased their talents in various competitions. Taranpreet Singh from Punjab secured the second position in the folk song category, while the Punjab Bhangra team secured the third position in group folk dance. The second-place team received a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, and the third-place team was awarded Rs 75 thousand.
Minister Meet Hayer applauded the winners, acknowledging their contribution to Punjab’s prominence on the national stage. He emphasized the commitment of the State government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to promote Punjab’s rich cultural heritage. The success of Punjab in national competitions serves as an inspiration for the state’s young generation.
