NEW DELHI, MARCH 21

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rebuffed Congress’ criticism of the central government’s actions in freezing its bank accounts on Thursday. BJP president J.P Nadda asserted that Congress is on the verge of complete rejection by the people, and in anticipation of a historic defeat, its top leadership resorted to a press conference to lambaste Indian democracy and institutions.

Nadda contended that Congress is conveniently shifting the blame for its irrelevance onto ‘financial troubles’, whereas in reality, its bankruptcy is moral and intellectual rather than financial. He highlighted that instead of rectifying their own missteps, Congress is pointing fingers at authorities for their predicament. “Whether it’s the ITAT or the Delhi HC, they have instructed Congress to adhere to regulations and settle outstanding taxes, but the Party has consistently failed to do so,” Nadda added.

Taking to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Nadda criticized Congress for its alleged involvement in numerous scandals across various sectors and states throughout history. He mocked the notion of financial helplessness from a party that, according to him, has profited from a string of scams spanning from the jeep scam to the chopper scam via Bofors. Additionally, Nadda pointed out the irony of Congress’ part-time leaders questioning India’s democratic credentials, reminding them that India has predominantly been a democracy, except for a brief period between 1975 and 1977 when Mrs. Indira Gandhi held the position of Prime Minister.

Accusing former Congress president Rahul Gandhi of dishonesty on the matter, BJP leader and former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad advised the Congress that allowing Rahul Gandhi to speak only results in further loss of credibility. “We wish the Congress well and our advice to the party is that the more you allow Rahul Gandhi to speak, the more ground you lose,” Prasad remarked while addressing press conference.
