In a swift response to attacks on its soil, Pakistan’s air force executed retaliatory air strikes near Iran’s southeast border, targeting positions of the Jaish al-Adl group and killed at least 9 people, as reported by Iranian state media. The strikes, described by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry as “highly coordinated and specifically targeted precision military strikes,” resulted in at least nine casualties.
Iran had previously launched an attack on Tuesday within Pakistani borders, leading to the tragic deaths of two children in the southwestern Balochistan province, according to Al Jazeera. In defense of its actions, Iran’s foreign minister labeled Jaish al-Adl as a “terrorist” organization, linking the strikes to recent attacks on the Iranian city of Rask in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry condemned Iran’s attack as “unacceptable” and a violation of its sovereignty. Expressing its right to respond, Pakistan executed what it termed an “intelligence-based operation” earlier today, targeting hideouts of armed groups in the Sistan-Baluchestan province of Iran.
Tensions between the two nations continue to escalate, marking a critical juncture in their diplomatic relations.
