In a disturbing development, designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun issued a veiled threat to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and police chief Gaurav Yadav on Tuesday. Pannun urged gangsters in the state to align with the banned outfit Sikhs For Justice and prevent top political leaders from participating in the Republic Day parade.
According to media reports, the threat was conveyed through an email sent to select journalists, accompanied by two videos. A divergence in content has surfaced between an email sent to journalists and accompanying videos featuring designated terrorist Pannun. While the videos primarily emphasize Pannun’s call for Punjab gangsters to align with Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), the email introduces an additional aspect. In this communication, Pannun not only urges Punjab gangsters to join SFJ but also encourages them to seek recognition as “shaheeds” (martyrs).
Pannun had been designated as a terrorist by the Union home ministry under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Sikh for Justice banned in 2020.
