Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the nation in his 108th “Mann Ki Baat” radio program, reflecting on the country’s achievements in 2023 and setting a tone of optimism and renewed focus for 2024.

Highlighting significant milestones like the passage of the “Nari Shakti Vandan Act” empowering women, India’s ascent to become the 5th largest economy, and the success of the G20 Summit, Modi praised the “spirit of self-reliance” driving the nation. He urged listeners to maintain this momentum in the new year, emphasizing the importance of vocal for local initiatives and celebrating the record business observed during Diwali.

Expressing pride in India’s scientific advancements, particularly the feats of Chandrayaan-3 and the contributions of women scientists, Modi also saluted the country’s cultural achievements. He lauded the Oscars victory of “Natu-Natu” and the global recognition of “The Elephant Whisperers,” underlining India’s creativity and environmental consciousness.

Sports too found their place in Modi’s address, with Indian athletes’ outstanding performances in the Asian Games, Para Games, and Cricket World Cup receiving accolades. He particularly celebrated the U-19 women’s cricket team’s World Cup victory and encouraged the nation to rally behind its athletes as they gear up for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Reflecting on collective national efforts, Modi highlighted the successful “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaigns, praising the participation of crores of citizens and the construction of 70,000 Amrit Sarovars as testament to collective spirit.

Innovation emerged as a key theme, with Modi highlighting India’s rise from 81st to 40th in the Global Innovation Index and the surge in domestic patent filings. He also commended the increased presence of Indian universities in QS Asia University Rankings, showcasing the nation’s growing potential.

Turning his attention to youth fitness, Modi acknowledged the growing concerns about lifestyle-related diseases and expressed enthusiasm about the public response to his call for suggestions on the NaMo App and Fit India initiatives. He praised numerous startups innovating in the health and wellness space, from millet-based food businesses to mental health platforms utilizing AI.

Concluding his address, Modi urged listeners to continue sharing information about innovative health care startups and promised to share experiences of prominent figures promoting physical and mental wellbeing.
