Russian President Vladimir Putin has credited the “policy led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi” as the primary driver of the strong and ever-growing bilateral ties between India and Russia. Speaking at the 14th VTB Investment Forum ‘Russia Calling’, Putin acknowledged the significant progress made in the relationship across various sectors and attributed this success directly to Modi’s leadership and policy decisions.
Putin emphasised that Modi’s unwavering commitment to India’s national interests, reflected in his policies, forms the “main guarantor” of the stable and prosperous relationship between the two nations. He praised Modi’s firm stance in the face of external pressures, stating that he cannot imagine the Prime Minister being intimidated or forced to compromise on matters of national importance.
“I cannot imagine that Modi could be intimidated, intimidated or forced to take any actions, steps and decisions that are contrary to the national interests of India and the Indian people. And there is such pressure, I know. By the way, he and I never even talk about this. I just look at what is happening from the outside, and sometimes, to be honest, I’m even surprised at his tough position on defending the national interests of the Indian state,” Putin said.
