Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited two prominent temples in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, offering prayers and participating in religious ceremonies. Modi commenced his visit with a holy dip at the sacred ‘Angi theerth’ beach, followed by prayers at the ancient Ramanathaswamy temple, a Shiva shrine. Wearing a traditional rudraksha-mala, the Prime Minister sought blessings for the well-being of India’s 1.4 billion citizens.
“Prayed at the Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple for the good health and well-being of 140 crore Indians,” Modi later wrote on his post on X formerly known as Twitter.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary also included a visit to the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, renowned for its connection to the Hindu epic Ramayana. Modi listened to verses recited from the “Kamba Ramayan,” written by Tamil poet Kamban and first presented at this very temple.
“Honoured to have got the opportunity to pray at the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. Prabhu Sri Ram’s connection with this Temple is long-standing. I feel blessed to have been blessed by the God whom Prabhu Sri Ram also worshipped,” Modi wrote in his post on social media platform.
Listening to the Ramayana verses proved a deeply enriching experience for the Prime Minister, as he later shared on social online, “Listening to verses of the Kamba Ramayan at the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is an experience I will cherish for my entire life. The fact that this is the very Temple where the great Kamban first publically presented his Ramayan makes it more noteworthy,” he said.
