Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to contest from Varanasi, while Home Minister Amit Shah from Gandhinagar, BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde announced on Saturday while sharing details about the first list of 195 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In a press conference held in New Delhi, he said the decision was made during a meeting attended by the Prime Minister and BJP President J P Nadda on February 29. “The list comprises 195 candidates, including 34 central ministers and ministers of states, along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and two former chief ministers. Among the candidates, 28 are women and 47 are under the age of 50. Additionally, there are 27 Scheduled Caste candidates and 18 Scheduled Tribes candidates,” he said. Tawde highlighted the inclusion of 57 OBC candidates in the list.
