In a step towards empowering the last person at the last mile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the first instalment to 1 lakh beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) under Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) on January 15. The event, scheduled for 12 noon, will be conducted through video conferencing, with the Prime Minister engaging with the recipients. Launched on November 15, 2023, PM-JANMAN focuses on the socio-economic welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and includes 11 critical interventions across 9 Ministries, with a budget of approximately Rs 24,000 crore. The initiative aims to enhance the living conditions of PVTGs by providing essential facilities like safe housing, clean water, sanitation, education, health, nutrition, electricity, road and telecom connectivity, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
