Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed the issue of use of artificial intelligence for creating ‘deepfake’ content. He deemed this technological development problematic and called upon the media to play an active role in educating the public about the potential risks associated with it.
“I recently saw a video in which I was seen singing a Garba song. There are many other such videos online,” said the Prime Minister, adding that the looming threat of deepfakes has become a great concern and can create a lot of problems for everyone.
Addressing at the BJP’s Diwali Milan event at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi, he stressed the importance of awareness and vigilance in dealing with such challenges posed by evolving technology.
The Prime Minister also reiterated his commitment to transform India into a ‘Viksit Bharat,’ emphasising that these are not merely words but a ground reality. He also noted that the ‘vocal for local’ initiative has garnered significant support from the people.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister took a moment to reflect on India’s remarkable achievements during the COVID-19 pandemic. He underscored that these achievements not only showcase the nation’s resilience but also foster confidence among the people. Modi expressed the belief that India’s advancement is unstoppable, and the nation is poised to continue its trajectory of success.
