Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a 50 percent vote share target for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 general elections, urging party leaders to work in “mission mode” and aggressively counter opposition criticism on social media.
Addressing a closed-door meeting of BJP national office bearers on Friday, Modi said the party could surpass its 2019 tally of 303 seats if it adopts a focused approach. He urged leaders to “give positive answers to the opposition’s negative propaganda with facts” and “express views aggressively on social media.”
The two-day meeting aimed to strategize for the upcoming polls, drawing national office bearers, state in-charges, and heads of various party divisions. Discussions centered on the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra,” a nationwide campaign highlighting the government’s welfare schemes, and strengthening outreach on its “good works.”
Recent victories in three state assembly elections have emboldened BJP leaders, who now anticipate a third term for Modi’s government at the center.
