In a significant political development, Ravneet Singh Bittu, a three-time Member of Parliament representing the Congress party from Punjab, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in New Delhi today. Bittu, hails from a prominent political lineage as the grandson of the late Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh.
Speaking to the media upon his defection, Bittu, who currently represents Ludhiana in Parliament, expressed his confidence in the BJP’s leadership, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, affirming their dedication to Punjab’s welfare and development. He asserted his belief that under Modi’s leadership, Punjab would witness progress comparable to that of other developed states, vowing to facilitate this transformation as a bridge between the BJP and the state.
“I am convinced that Prime Minister Modi will emerge victorious in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and Punjab will thrive under his stewardship. We are committed to ensuring that the state keeps pace with the nation’s progress,” Bittu declared.
Acknowledging his longstanding relationship with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Bittu expressed gratitude to Modi, Shah, and BJP President JP Nadda for welcoming him into the BJP fold. Reflecting on Punjab’s tumultuous past marred by terrorism, he commended the collaborative efforts of the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in restoring peace and harmony.
“As a witness to Punjab’s turbulent times, I appreciate the BJP and RSS’s role in fostering unity. Today, we stand united to uphold the values of peace and progress,” Bittu affirmed.
