The Election Commission of India(ECI) on Saturday asked the Punjab Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) to submit a report immediately regarding the Sangrur hooch tragedy. The ECI has directed the Chief Secretary and the DGP to submit a report through the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). As per the commission’s data, approximately 20 individuals lost their lives, while another 20 are receiving medical treatment across hospitals in Sangrur and Patiala districts. The Punjab CEO penned a letter to the Chief Secretary and DGP of Punjab, directing them to furnish both a preliminary and comprehensive report on the incident promptly to inform the commission.
