Mahesh Kumawat, apprehended in connection to the Parliament security breach, was sent to seven days police custody by Special Judge Hardeep Kaur on Saturday. The decision follows prosecution claims of Kumawat’s alleged involvement in a two-year conspiracy, with the prosecution asserting his intentions to incite anarchy to coerce the government into meeting unjust demands.
The ‘mastermind’ in the security breach, Lalit Jha, was already sent to seven-day police custody of the Delhi Police Special Cell by the Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Friday. Special Judge Hardeep Kaur remanded Jha in Delhi police’s custody after the Public Prosecutor said he was the mastermind of the incident and was required to be questioned to unearth the entire conspiracy.
Jha was arrested late on Thursday night. Subsequently, he was handed over to the Special Cell of Delhi Police, as per reports.
In addition to it, the Delhi Patiala House Court on Thursday ordered a seven-day police custody for the four accused—Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Neelam Verma, and Amol Shinde—apprehended for breaching security in the Lok Sabha premises.
Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava, during the hearing, highlighted a concerning detail that the accused were found in possession of a pamphlet portraying the Prime Minister as a missing person. “The accused have shown reward to be paid by the Swiss bank,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla wrote a letter to all MPs on the Parliament Security Breach.
