In a heartfelt tribute, President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Sukhbir Badal on Friday described his father as a nationalist devoted to the country and its people. “If I were to describe my father’s life journey in a few words,” Sukhbir said, “he was a nationalist ready for any sacrifice for his country and community.” On the occasion of Sad Bhavana Diwas, commemorating the late leader’s first birth anniversary since his passing, the SAD president highlighted Parkash Singh Badal’s multifaceted legacy, depicting him as a secular leader committed to ‘Sarbat da Bhala’ (welfare of all), a democrat receptive to diverse opinions, and a humble individual known for punctuality and simplicity.
Sukhbir emphasised his father’s belief in ‘Raj Nahi Sewa’ (service over power) and his efforts in preserving Punjab’s culture and heritage, improving the lives of the underprivileged, and fulfilling promises made to the people.
“Today, seeking the blessings of the ‘sangat,’ I pledge to lead the Shiromani Akali Dal with the same fervor and sincerity as Parkash Singh Ji Badal,” Sukhbir affirmed. “I assure to dedicate my entire life to their ‘sewa’ (service).”
