A prominent tribal leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Vishnu Deo Sai, will be the next Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. He was elected by the party’s 54 newly-elected MLAs at a legislative party meeting held on Sunday. The decision was finalised after a thorough discussion and keeping in view of the coming Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP leaders said that the BJP’s impressive victory in the recent assembly elections, securing 54 out of 90 seats, paved the way for Sai’s elevation to the top post. As a respected tribal leader, he is expected to bring a new perspective and focus on issues related to tribal communities in the state.
In his first address to the media after his appointment, Sai emphasized his commitment to “Sabka Vishwas” (trust of all) and the fulfillment of promises made to the people under the “Modi Ki Guarantee” campaign.
“With all honesty, I will work for the welfare of all sections of society,” he declared. “The promises made to the people of Chhattisgarh under ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ will be fulfilled. As a Chief Minister, my government will strive to deliver on these promises,” he said.
Sai further announced his first priority as Chief Minister to provide 18 lakh “Awas” (housing units) to the people of Chhattisgarh. This initiative is expected to address the state’s housing shortage and improve the living conditions of poor families.
Commenting on the development, the BJP leaders said that Sai’s appointment marks a significant moment for Chhattisgarh. His tribal background and focus on inclusive development are expected to bring positive changes to the state. His commitment to fulfilling the promises made during the election campaign is likely to strengthen the BJP’s image and garner further support from the people”.
