In a significant victory for Punjab’s ongoing anti-gangster campaign, the state’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested a key operative of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gang, preventing potential “sensational crimes” within the state, announced Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Thursday.
Vikramjit Singh alias Vicky, the arrested individual, hails from Satiyewala in Ferozepur and boasts a lengthy criminal history spanning over 20 cases across Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. These offenses include heinous acts like murder, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Police apprehended Vicky in Mohali’s Sector 91 apartment, where he sought refuge. The arrest followed meticulous tracking based on credible intelligence sources. Notably, authorities also seized a Chinese-made .30 caliber pistol with eight live cartridges and Vicky’s Toyota Fortuner car.
DGP Yadav revealed that preliminary investigations paint a disturbing picture. Vicky, allegedly backed by Pakistani agencies, maintained contact with Pakistan-based weapons and drug smugglers via Goldy Brar and Saba, a figure residing in the United States. These connections facilitated cross-border weapon and drug smuggling operations. Furthermore, Vicky was entrusted with eliminating a rival gang member from the Davinder Bambiha group.
AIG Gurmeet Singh Chauhan elaborated on Vicky’s past, linking him to the 2018 murder of rival Jordan in Rajasthan’s Ganganagar. He was identified as a shooter/co-accused alongside the now-deceased gangster Ankit Bhadu. Subsequently, after Bhadu’s neutralization in a February 2019 police encounter, Vicky stepped into his shoes within the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gang, actively participating in criminal activities across three states.
Further investigations are currently underway to delve deeper into Vicky’s criminal network and dismantle the associated weapon/drug smuggling operation. An FIR (First Information Report) has been lodged under Section 25 of the Arms Act at the Police Station State Crime, SAS Nagar.
