The Union Home Ministry has officially labeled Lakhbir Singh Landa, a Canada-based individual associated with the Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International, as a terrorist. The Ministry of Home Affairs notification asserts that Landa, along with his associates, has been actively engaged in planning disruptive activities aimed at destabilizing peace, law, and order in Punjab. “The group has purportedly orchestrated targeted killings, extortion schemes, and other anti-national endeavors across various regions of India. An open-ended warrant has been issued for Lakhbir Singh Landa’s arrest,” the Home Ministry said.
Lakhbir Singh @ Landa, born on August 24, 1989, and is currently residing in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, belongs to Harike in Tarn Taran of Punjab.
Accusations against Landa extend to involvement in a terror attack utilizing a shoulder-mounted Rocket Propelled Grenade on the Punjab State Intelligence Headquarter building in Mohali, allegedly supported by cross-border agencies. Additionally, Landa is accused of supplying Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), arms, advanced weaponry, and explosives across the border to multiple modules, facilitating terrorist operations in Punjab.
Giving details, the Home Ministry said that Landa faces allegations in numerous criminal cases involving the establishment of terror cells, extortion, homicides, placement of IEDs, weapon and narcotics smuggling, and utilizing funds derived from these illegal activities to fund terrorist acts in Punjab and various other parts of India. Lakhbir Singh Landa’s direct involvement in terrorist activities, emphasizing the need to include him in the list of identified terrorists, the Home Ministry said.
