Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday convened a high-level meeting to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, following a recent spate of terror attacks. The gathering in New Delhi included National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Chief of Army Staff, Director (IB), Heads of CAPFs, Chief Secretary & DGP, UT of Jammu and Kashmir attended the meeting held in New Delhi.
Shah delved into the area domination plan of security agencies, emphasizing the need to dismantle the terror ecosystem altogether. He called for enhanced counter-terrorism measures and strategic deployment in vulnerable areas, reiterating the government’s unwavering “zero-tolerance” stance against terrorism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
However, Shah also underlined the importance of due process in counter-terror operations. He stressed the need for a robust local intelligence network to anticipate and thwart potential threats.
Shah commended the security forces and J&K administration for their efforts in curbing terror incidents, infiltration, and improving law and order. He acknowledged the progress made but underscored the need for constant vigilance and proactive measures to ensure lasting peace and security in the Union Territory.
