NEW DELHI, MARCH 23
Union Minister Anurag Thakur rebuked Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday for retaining his position as Delhi’s Chief Minister despite being under arrest, describing it as a nadir in Indian politics. Thakur derided AAP leaders for their backing of Kejriwal and alleged the party’s complicity in liquor-related scandals. While addressing the press conference, Anurag Thakur criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who, while in ED custody, had pledged to lead an anti-drug campaign in Punjab upon assuming power. Thakur highlighted yesterday’s incident, pointing to a tragic incident in Sangrur where over 20 individuals lost their lives due to the consumption of spurious liquor. He raised concerns about the implications of such a situation in Punjab Chief Minister Mann’s district, questioning the potential ramifications for other regions as well.
Kejriwal had said that once voted to power, he would run a campaign against drugs in Punjab.
