External Affairs Minister, Dr. S Jaishankar, emphasized the unequivocal stance against terrorism, stating that it should never be excused or defended, regardless of the language or explanation used to justify it. Addressing queries during an interaction with the Indian community in Singapore, the Minister asserted that a terrorist remains a terrorist irrespective of linguistic nuances, urging against any attempts to rationalize or condone terrorism.
Discussing the essence of diplomacy, Jaishankar underscored its role in reconciling divergent viewpoints and reaching agreements amidst the cultural and linguistic diversity inherent in international relations. He highlighted the complexities involved when nations bring their distinct cultures and traditions to the diplomatic table.
Reflecting on India’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens, particularly during crises such as the conflict in Ukraine, Jaishankar noted the proactive measures taken by the government. He cited the example of deploying 90 planes not only to evacuate Indian students but also those from neighboring countries, emphasizing India’s responsibility towards its diaspora in an increasingly globalized world.
