In a shocking incident unfolded today as two persons breached security and leaped into the Lok Sabha House from the gallery while the session was in full swing. The intruders, identified as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan removed their shoes, pulled out gas canisters, and sprayed a yellow gas, causing a moment of confusion within the house, according to the reports. The shocking incident occurred on the anniversary of the Parliament attack that shook India 22 years ago.
Television footage captured the chilling scene, showing the intruders jumping from desk to desk and chanting slogans “tana shahi nahi chalegi” (“dictatorship won’t be accepted”).
Simultaneously, outside the Parliament building, two persons including a woman, identified as Neelima, engaged in a separate act of protest. She burst crackers, drawing the attention of security personnel. Both individuals were swiftly apprehended by the police. The nature of the gas sprayed by Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan remains under investigation, and authorities are working to assess the motive behind these coordinated actions.
According to reports, a total of six people were involved in the conspiracy and four people were caught, while a search is underway for the remaining two. Out of the six persons, five people who were from outside Delhi, stayed at a location in Gurugram before the incident.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the security of Parliament and the need for stricter measures to prevent such breaches in the future.
After the Lok Sabha resumed its session, Speaker Om Birla addressed the House and assured members that there was no need to worry about the yellow gas sprayed by one of the intruders. “A thorough investigation of the incident that took place during zero hour is being done. Essential instructions have also been given to Delhi Police. In the primary investigation, it has been found that it was just a smoke and there is no need to worry about the smoke,” the Speaker said.
